Tammy & Marc – Casa Ybel Resort, Sanibel “Reunited on Facebook”

Marc and Tammy had a small, intimate wedding at Casa Ybel Resort on Sanibel Island. After the ceremoney we went to the Sanibel causeway to take some sunset pictures.  It never ceases to amaze me how people meet. I think you will agree the following story is pretty cool. I wish you guys all the best for the future!

Marc and I met in Alabama, when I was about 14 years old at the local skating rink.  He was my first love and we “dated” off and on for a couple of years.  But, Marc moved to Illinois in 10th grade.  We wrote a few letters back and forth but eventally lost touch and moved on with our lives.  It turns out that he had come to look for me when he was 21, but I never knew it.

I looked Marc up on Facebook last July and we began talking and texting and it grew from there.  A few months later, we decided to meet in New Orleans.  We had a wonderful time and no awkward moments.  It was amazing.  After that, we started seeing one another (long distance)  every couple of weeks.  Either he would fly to Alabama or I would fly to Illinois. He moved in with me in February.

We were initially planning to get married on 10.10.10 but we could not wait.  Since Marc’s birthday is May 3 and mine is May 5, we decided to marry on the day betwen our birthdays, May 4.

Anita & Colin – ‘Tween Waters Inn Island Resort, Captiva Island

I met Anita and Colin at The Crows Nest at Tween Waters Inn, Captiva Island. They had booked me online to cover their wedding on Wednesday the 5th of May (Cinco de Mayo). It was great to speak to a couple that speaks the same language as me 🙂 Yup thats right, fellow Brits. Anita was originally from ‘Palmers Green’ in North London. Which makes her a self professed  ‘Gooner’ (English slang for an Arsenel supporter) and Colin was from Portsmouth and is a Pompey supporter (Portsmouth Utd. FC) good luck with the FA Cup Final next week. Anita left London many years ago and they ending up Living next door to each other in Portsmouth. I asked how they had met: it turns out they were neighbors for 19 years before they got together!  It turns out Colin is a bit of a Motor Head, he works for a large company in the UK running their fleet of vehicles. So he and Anita hired a cool Mustang convertible while they were here and we took a couple of images with it. He said to me, and I quote: “If you really want to get me smiling, start the engine.” and at another point Anita had informed me that Colin had cleaned his rental car three times since they had rented it, ten days before! Now thats enthusiasm for you. Don’t worry Colin, I am the same way with my motorcycle, except I don’t clean it as much….hmmmm….. maybe you would like to borrow my bike for a couple of weeks?

Joking aside you make a great couple and I wish you all the best for the future.

On a side note, Colin, you had asked me about renting a property in the Cape next year. The company I was telling you about was Osprey Villas. (http://ospreyvillas.com/)

Katie & Jose – Fort Myers, Florida

It’s always great to stay in touch with past customers. I first met Katie and Jose when I photographed their wedding several years ago at the historic Heitman House. Katie is a well respected Public Defender who worked on a high profile, televised murder case recently.  Jose started his law career as a State Prosecutor.  He met Katie, in court. They married on December 3rd, 2005. Jose left the State Prosecutors office and spent 5 years at a local law firm. In 2007, Jose, opened his own practice named  ‘The Law Offices of Jose Luis Calvo (JLC).  With the addition of two children and an ever constricting schedule Katie and Jose have decided to join forces and consolidate the limited hours they have in one day and work as a team together. Hence the new promotional photographs.  Exciting times for them, they will be taking on both criminal law and family cases. Who better to hire than lawyers that have represented both sides of the court! On a personal level, I would have no problem recommending them both. They were a joy to deal with, honest, straight up, good company and just all around great people. If you are ever in need of a lawyer for any reason remember ‘The Law Offices of Jose Luis Calvo’ (JLC). They are located on Jackson Street right across from the old federal court house which is now known as ‘The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center’ (http://www.sbdac.com/.) On a side note, if anyone is thinking of getting married or is holding a function and looking for a venue; check out The Heitman House.(http://www.heitmanhouse.com)
It is located right on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River, downtown Fort Myers.  It’s an amazing place with lots of history.
