Stunning Captiva Island Wedding!

Nick Adams Beach Photographer Captiva

Beach photographer Nick Adams recently did a fantastic wedding at South Seas Island Resort. Here is what he had to say about it:

Kaia and Dave met on Match.com. Yes, it really works! Dave had been on the site for a while, but it was Kasia’s first time. A majority of Kasia’s friends were married off or about to be, so her best friend signed her up. Kasia had been on the site for about two months before she started talking to Dave. Long story short, Dave was the first and only guy she ever dated on Match.com.

Now for the big day! Kasia and Dave got married at Sunset Cove in the South Seas Island Resort. The theme was simple and elegant. Kasia’s main concern was she wanted everyone dancing, so she hired this AMAZING 11 piece band called The Headliners. This band really knew how to keep the party going.

“Married life is great! I just booked our honeymoon to the Dominican Republic! And we’re going through all our pictures! Finally, I got time last night to start the slideshow, we’re half way through… finishing up tonight. We LOVE them! Thank you SOOO much!”

It wasn’t that long ago that couples meeting online was rare, if not somewhat embarrassing for the couples concerned but nowadays it is commonplace. Beach photographer Nick Adams said: The first wedding I did for an online couple was so extraordinary that they requested emojicons be put throughout their album. I will never forget it, the groom, Marcelo was from Argentina and the bride was from the US. Neither of them particularly liked the ‘bar scene’ or the traditional methods of meeting people, so online dating was the perfect fit. They used Yahoo Personals which was the predecessor to Match.com. I can happily say… they are still married today and they will be celebrating their 10 year anniversary this coming Valentines day (2016). Marcelo and I share a passion for motorcycles and we are still friends to this day. In fact I am doing a multigenerational portrait session this week of Maura’s family. Cheers to online dating…. it works!

Captiva Wedding Photography

Captiva wedding photography is always a creative mix of stunning scenery and the joys of a union. Ashley and Brad’s wedding was no different. The wedding took place at the beautiful South Seas Island Resort located at the most northerly tip of Captiva Island. Ashley and Brad have known each other since middle school. They recently made the ultimate commitment and tied the knot. They chose the stunning lawn area of the Kings Crown Lawn as their ceremony location. A great choice if I may say so myself:) The lawn overlooks Pine Island Sound or the back bay as it is locally known. The views are stunning. You are also relatively protected from the coastal breeze. Its a great place to get married because it is secluded and convenient. There is a bridal room that is located just off the lawn area. It has large panes of glass that let in ample light for those perfect ‘getting ready” shots. A few short steps takes you out onto the lawn to your ceremony site. After the ceremony you can take pictures with your guests and family right there just as Ashley and Brad did. You then have the option of using the pier and the lush tropical greenery for the all important bride and groom portraits.

Ashley and Brad decided to also go to the beach at sunset with the wedding party, while the guests stayed behind and enjoyed delicious hors d’oeuvres and cocktails prepared by the talented culinary staff at South Seas Island Resort. Rhonda Decherd, one of the talented wedding planning staff at South Seas Island Resort organized an open top trolly to pick up Ashley, Brad and 16 of their closest friends to take them to the secluded Sunset Cove. Check out the pictures below… you will see why:) After sunset they headed back to the Kings Crown for the reception. The rest is history!

What a great couple and a what a great, fun, group of people. I wish them all the happiness for the future and thanks to them for making Captiva wedding photography such a joy and an honor to me!

“Nick and his assistant Lori were unbelievable. First, the quality of the photos was amazing – we couldn’t be happier. There are so many good shots, and the overall quality is much higher than I’ve seen for other weddings. For the photo session following the wedding, I got the feeling that Nick and Lori knew exactly what they were doing. They catered to all of our requests, taking pictures of my wife and I with countless combinations of family and friends. They were quick, efficient, and professional, all without making us feel rushed. They also got a bunch of great action shots at the reception. Within minutes of the ceremony finishing, they had already assembled a slide show in the reception area that showed photos from the ceremony. The mobile app that they offer is awesome. Just a few days after the wedding, we received a link to download a personalized app that included highlight photos from the wedding day. It was super easy to send this along to family and friends back home who were begging to see photos. We received the digital copies of the images in the mail a few weeks after the wedding. Captiva wedding photographer, Nick Adams, had the privilege of photographing James and Jennifers Captiva Island wedding. The wedding was held at South Seas Island Resort, on the Kings Crown lawn. The Kings Crown Lawn is located at the very northerly tip of Captiva Island. It is a fantastic venue for a Wedding, truly stunning. You have the added bonus of being protected from the prevailing ocean winds off the Gulf of Mexico and have a gorgeous view of Pine Island Sound. No sand in your toes at this venue. You will also se the sailboats coming and going from the South Seas Marina… What more could you ask for in a destination wedding. 🙂

Sunset Cove

Typically the Bride and Groom would be provided transportation for the short (3 min) ride to Sunset Cove. You get the most spectacular view of the sunset from Sunset Cove (hence the name:) You are literally positioned between the tip of Captiva Island and North Captiva Island. There is a channel that separates the two islands, Redfish Pass. It’s a local hotspot for fishing. The Channel is around 26′ deep and is very tidal, so it is a haven for fish and their predators. You will see many a fishing guide in this channel, with their patrons, rods doubled over, wondering whats about to appear from the deep.

On this occasion, James and Jennifer, decided to have all of their pics taken on the Kings Crown Lawn to maximize their time with their guests.
