NBC’s Today Show to announce: Sanibel is number one!!!

NBC’s Today Show to announce: Sanibel Island is the best Family-Friendly Vacation Spot in the U.S. according to a poll conducted by the readers of the national publication FamilyFun Magazine.

FamilyFun stated in their April 2015 issue that “Sanibel Island is the perfect family getaway, boasts 250 types of shells, 230 types of birds, 50 species of fish, 25 miles of bike paths, 15 miles of unspoiled beaches and 0 stoplights.”

NBC’s Today Show will run a segment with Kathie Lee Gifford and co-host Hoda Kotb (herself, a former Wink TV presenter).

The hosts will be presented with a basket of Sanibel clues by FamilyFun Deputy editor Mary Giles, they then have to guess the destination.

The show is to be aired nationally between 10am and 11am on Thursday, May 7, 2015.

Sanibel won in two categories: The Best Family-Friendly Vacation Spot in the U.S. and The Top Tourist Town category.

No small feat as it was up against national parks and theme parks across the nation, not forgetting the stunning variety of destinations in the U.S.

Well done Sanibel, the not-so-secret, secret paradise in the U.S:)

Godspell – Big Arts Herb Strauss Theater on Sanibel

You don’t want to miss Godspell, it is playing at the Big Arts Strauss Theater now through April 4th. Godspell was the first major musical theatre offering from 3-time Grammy and Academy Award-winner Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children Of Eden)—and it took the world by storm. Based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew, a small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques, and hefty dose of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs ranging in style from pop to vaudeville helps the story of Jesus’ life dance across the stage.

The Fourth Wall-Herb Strauss Theater

The Fourth Wall by A.R. Gurney is now playing at the Herb Strauss Theater on Sanibel. This show runs Jan. 23-Feb. 21.

“It’s a whimsical meditation on the theatre—its history and its conceits, its degradation in the video age, and its enduring potential for enabling people to connect. And, above all, it’s a clever, playful prayer for its survival.” —Chicago Sun-Times
