This is aerial footage of the Galloway Captiva Triathlon, South Seas Island Resort, Captiva Island, Florida. Filmed after the race was finished as I was competing. First comes the 1/4mile / 440yard swim which takes place in the Gulf of Mexico behind the transition area, starting slightly east and ending on the western edge of the transition area. Next comes the 10 mile bike ride which is on the road between the finish line and transition area and goes to Blind Pass and then back again. The 5K run is last and is two laps around the golf course. The Finish line is also the same area that registration takes place and is also where the vendors are located. Parking is located behind the finish line / registration area. Sign up for next year, September 14 & 15, 2014.
It’s a blast:)
I decided to go around the Island and take some stock shots for the Sanibel-Captiva Chamber Magazine, here are just a few.

Even though I am a professional photographer, I still like to go out and take pictures just for fun. I recently did just that! I called my father-in-law, a retired biology teacher who loves wildlife and the wilderness and asked him if he would like to join me for a ride through the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge. He readily accepted and brought along his binoculars and bird books to be my “wing” man. It was not ideal photography conditions, overcast and in the middle of the day, but it was just for fun it did not matter too much. Armed with my father-in-law as chief spotter and me with my 400mm 2.8 Canon lens we set off and this is what I photographed:
By the way: if anyone is interested in renting a Canon 400 f/2.8L IS USM telephoto lens give me a call. I also have other lenses, tele converters and bird photography equipment available for rent.
