Kiteboarding on the Sanibel Island Causeway

I was leaving the island a couple of weeks ago, the wind was really strong and it was pretty cold (by Sanibel standards). Although you see kiteboarding and windsurfing on a regular basis in the back bay, this one guy really caught my eye.  I happened to have my camera gear and my 400mm lens with me, so I stopped and watched this guy for a bit and he was totally amazing. I later found out that he is an instructor for a local kiteboard and windsurf shop called Ace Performer. If you ever get the chance stop in, it is a really cool shop! (this is not a paid ad). They have kiteboards, kayaks, Stand up paddle boards, windsurf equipment and all the gear associated with wind board sports. They also do lessons and rent gear. The shop is like a warehouse with gear hanging from the ceiling and stacked against the walls. It definitely brings out the inner kid in you! I have always wanted to give it a try… maybe I will now.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Now Showing at Herb Strauss Theater

The other day I had blast doing the press photos for BIG ARTS Herb Strauss Theater’s latest musical called “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.”  We used Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort & Spa as a backdrop. “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” is the musical stage version of the hit 1988 movie about con artists working the French Riviera. As usual Herb Stauss Theater manages to display great performances, I can’t wait to see this one!

“Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” runs Monday-Saturday through February 11 at the BIG ARTS Herb Strauss Theater. For more info or to purchase tickets log on to the BIG ARTS Herb Strauss website.

Brock Family Portrait @ Lakes Regional Park

It was such a pleasure to photograph Darlene Brock and her family at Lakes Park. Darlene and her husband are the founders of The Grit and Grace Project, a company dedicated to helping women reach their full potential. Darlene has written a book called Help Wanted: Moms Raising Daughters, a book about the the 13 jobs moms must accomplish in the dynamic, often challenging mother-daughter relationship to make the maximum difference in their girl’s life. I had a really great time doing their family portraits!

To check out Darlene’s book you visit her website at The Grit and Grace Project.

“God of Carnage” now showing at Florida Repertory Theatre

Last week I photographed Florida Rep’s latest showing “God of Carnage” by Yasmina Resa and translated by Christopher Hampton. When you combine brilliant writing, acting, and a gorgeous set you get an awesome show. Chris Silk from the Naples News wrote an article about us and the show, check it out here.

“God of Carnage” runs through January 22, 2012 and you can get tickets here.

Matlock Family Portraits @ Barefoot Beach Preserve County Park

Last week I was at Barefoot Beach Preserve County Park in Bonita Springs for a family photoshoot. I was very pleased with the way it turned out, Barefoot beach is a beautiful location.

Wow, what are the chances of this happening: I was wrapping up my family portrait session with the Matlock family and I bumped into some old clients of mine Ross and Lesia. I had the privilege of photographing Ross and Lesia’s wedding back in 2003. I remembered it well, fun people, fun crowd. They got married at The Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club. Wow, time really does fly by. Four boys later and I think you will agree they both still look great, even being photographed as they strolled down the beach with one of their sons. I do not shoot at Barefoot beach very often so I was all the more surprised. To top it off, guess what day it was?……yup thats right, their anniversary. Waaahoooo! Congrats to you both. All the best to you and your family. Great to see you.
