Nick has been a photographer since the early nineties. He drew a lot of inspiration from his uncle, John Adams, who was a respected fashion and glamour photographer in the swinging 60s through to the 'big hair' 80s in London. His work can still be found in
stock libraries in London with the popular resurgence of the retro culture.
Nick himself started his career working on cruise ships where he met his wife, Lori (from Colombus Ohio). In 1994 Nick and Lori moved to England with the help of The Princes Trust (an excellent English Charity started by Prince Charles to help young people who wanted to start up in business). Nick set up 'Nick Adams Photography' in a rural market town called Maldon in Essex. During their stay in England, Lori and Nick got married and had their first child Max .
In 1998 Lori, Nick and Max moved to Southwest Florida where Nick Adams Photography made a reappearance with better weather and the sandy beaches as a backdrop. Nick Lori and Max have made Southwest Florida their permanent home along with two
additions to their family, Brooke and McKenna.
Das Barbecü is the latest showing at BIG ARTS Herb Strauss Theater and it combines big laughs, clever satire, and a western twist. A magical ring, cowboys, Rhinemaidens, giants, Rhinegold, Valkyries, a shotgun double wedding, and narcoleptic dwarves are just some of the things to expect when you watch the show! Here is the poster we created to advertise the show.
Even though I am a professional photographer, I still like to go out and take pictures just for fun. I recently did just that! I called my father-in-law, a retired biology teacher who loves wildlife and the wilderness and asked him if he would like to join me for a ride through the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge. He readily accepted and brought along his binoculars and bird books to be my “wing” man. It was not ideal photography conditions, overcast and in the middle of the day, but it was just for fun it did not matter too much. Armed with my father-in-law as chief spotter and me with my 400mm 2.8 Canon lens we set off and this is what I photographed:
By the way: if anyone is interested in renting a Canon 400 f/2.8L IS USM telephoto lens give me a call. I also have other lenses, tele converters and bird photography equipment available for rent.

I was leaving the island a couple of weeks ago, the wind was really strong and it was pretty cold (by Sanibel standards). Although you see kiteboarding and windsurfing on a regular basis in the back bay, this one guy really caught my eye. I happened to have my camera gear and my 400mm lens with me, so I stopped and watched this guy for a bit and he was totally amazing. I later found out that he is an instructor for a local kiteboard and windsurf shop called Ace Performer. If you ever get the chance stop in, it is a really cool shop! (this is not a paid ad). They have kiteboards, kayaks, Stand up paddle boards, windsurf equipment and all the gear associated with wind board sports. They also do lessons and rent gear. The shop is like a warehouse with gear hanging from the ceiling and stacked against the walls. It definitely brings out the inner kid in you! I have always wanted to give it a try… maybe I will now.
The other day I had blast doing the press photos for BIG ARTS Herb Strauss Theater’s latest musical called “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.” We used Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort & Spa as a backdrop. “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” is the musical stage version of the hit 1988 movie about con artists working the French Riviera. As usual Herb Stauss Theater manages to display great performances, I can’t wait to see this one!
“Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” runs Monday-Saturday through February 11 at the BIG ARTS Herb Strauss Theater. For more info or to purchase tickets log on to the BIG ARTS Herb Strauss website.
